About this event
Join us for "America at the Crossroads," a new series that invites us to think about how movies, music, museums, and more help us understand America’s past and shape our decisions about its future. This week we will hear from Professors Alcaraz, Núñez, and Rensink about how people have become American citizens throughout United States history. Come for a discussion about how Angel and Ellis Islands worked as sites of naturalization for foreign immigrants, court cases that determined Chinese citizenship, and how one Native American leader worked to help his people be recognized as citizens. Panelists: Melissa Alcaraz (Sociology), Carolina Núñez (Law School), and Brendan Rensink (History). Sponsored by the American Studies program. Event Flyer
