2026 Neal A. Maxwell Lecture

The BYU Neal A. Maxwell Institute for Religious Scholarship presents its Annual Neal A. Maxwell Lecture, commemorating the Institute’s twentieth anniversary and the centennial of Neal A. Maxwell’s birth. Elder Dale G. Renlund of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will speak on “The Limitless Power of Jesus Christ.” Elder Renlund was called to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in 2015. After earning bachelor’s and medical degrees from the University of Utah, he received medical and research training at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He later served as a professor of medicine at the University of Utah and as medical director of the Utah Transplantation Affiliated Hospitals Cardiac Transplant Program. Elder Renlund was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, in November 1952. He married Ruth Lybbert in 1977. They are the parents of one daughter. This annual lecture honors Elder Neal A. Maxwell’s legacy of faith and intellect by highlighting scholarship that deepens understanding of the restored gospel.
