BYU composer Steven Ricks collaborates with BYU English faculty member Stephen Tuttle and BYU graphic design faculty member Brent Barson to create a multimedia concert piece inspired by the journals and explorations of Franciscan friars Francisco Atanasio Domínguez and Silvestre Vélez de Escalante. Supported by a 2026 Interdisciplinary Studies Grant from the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies, this piece will be performed by the St. George-based ensemble Grand Circle New Music.
