About this event
The original 1933 King Kong is an early monster film. The library has the papers of both the director, Merian C. Cooper, and the score composer, Max Steiner. Critics called it "thrilling" when was released and it was re-released in various versions over the years before being restored. The library of Congress declared it "culturally, historically and aesthetically significant" and added it to the National Film Registry. This film is often mentioned when people look at the way 1930's Hollywood portrayed the world. Admission is free.
