About this event

The Laura F. Willes Book of Mormon Lecture Series presents David Pulsipher. He is presenting “What Desirest Thou? The Book of Mormon’s Unsettling Question Regarding Ourselves, Our Enemies, and (Ultimately) Itself,” which will explore the scriptural pattern by which God grants and refashions human desire. J. David Pulsipher is an associate professor of history at Brigham Young University–Idaho. His scholarship focuses on peace and nonviolence, and he is the coauthor, with Patrick Q. Mason, of Proclaim Peace: The Restoration’s Answer to an Age of Conflict (2021). This event is part of the Laura F. Willes Book of Mormon Lecture Series, which features scholarly lectures on the Book of Mormon and related subjects. The series is presented through the Laura F. Willes Center for Book of Mormon Studies, part of the BYU Neal A. Maxwell Institute for Religious Scholarship. The Maxwell Institute seeks to deepen understanding and nurture discipleship among Latter-day Saints while promoting mutual respect and goodwill through the scholarly study of religious texts and traditions.
